“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’”
After yesterday's post, which was entitled simply enough, “Christmas,” I got to thinking again...
It's one thing to say that you would present the baby Jesus with a blanket, but that opportunity is long gone--ancient history. But aside from that fact, we celebrate this day every year, and I think it's about time the kid got something...
After all, it's his birthday, and he's the only one who doesn't get anything--what's up with that? So other than being mere philosophical pondering, could there be any meaning to this musing?
I decided to take a quick trip out to the mall today, and wound up buying several blankets...

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but after making my purchase, I had no idea what to do next. I knew I wanted to donate the blankets to the homeless or something like that, but I didn't even know where the nearest shelter was.
I finally found one, and was surprised to see the sign out front was specifically asking for bedding materials.
I spent a few minutes talking to the lady who was running the place, and she told me that just today a man came in asking for a blanket. She said that they try to help people get back on their feet, but many times, these people will not have any blankets or other household supplies for their new apartments. She also said that the shelter itself is prone to getting cold at night...
Anyway, I'm not posting this to try to make myself look good. I just wanted to draw attention to a real need in the community, because as much as I might like to, I'm not so sure I can afford to buy all of the needed sheets and blankets by myself.
